From mall expansions to new malls and road widening to new bridges, Metro Cebu has seen significant developments during the last few years. New brands, new line of businesses, competitive food parks and, in fact, a new airport is coming! We have construction work going all around, new businesses popping out like mushrooms in the Queen City of the South.
You might have been tired of same food left and right. Well, here’s an update for ya’ll food aficionados out there. A list of the recently upgraded, or newly-opened restaurants in the past six months in Metro Cebu!

Peri-Peri Charcoal Chicken
Are you a fan of chicken but tired with the usual offerings by the fast food chains within the metro? Peri-Peri Charcoal Chicken is a restaurant that offers a “Portuguese-style” of grilling the chicken. If you’re tired of the usual ambiance of the city, take a ride to Albur’s in Panagdait, Cebu City. It’s just a five-minute ride away from Ayala Center Cebu but the ambiance of the restaurant is that for barkada hangout away from the busy streets of Cebu. ETTAS Eclectic Restaurant
If you have doubts about food fusion, it’s time to put that to the side when you’re at ETTAS Eclectic Restaurant. Imagine Dinuguang Lechon Kawali and Crispy Sisig (with chicharon). The Visual Traveler assures that you’re in good hands when you dine here and the reason why is published on her blog.
Have you heard of Kayu? If you have passed by JY Square Mall, you’ll surely notice this signage across the mall about Kayu Kitchen + Bar. Just go straight to that corner and at the end of it Kayu Kitchen + Bar will delight your tastebuds with their wide array of offerings. Here’s Issa’s experience at Kayu she posted on her blog.
Sure, La Vie is always the to-go places for visitors! However, only few might have heard that they have recently renovated their place and added a second floor. With a wider venue for wine and French dessert, dropping by at La Vie could be an exciting night. Trixie posted an awesome blog post about the new La Vie Parisienne.
La Lucha Taqueria
Are you a fan of tacos? Mexican food have recently been a trend in Cebuano’s tastebuds and here’s a new Mexican restaurant located at Mango Square. Kat called this as a “somewhat hidden food spot that serves delicious Mexican dishes.” Know more about La Lucha by reading it in Nested Thoughts here.
If you haven’t been to Cebu IT Park recently, there are a lot of ongoing developments within the vicinity. From the same owners of La Vie, Michel’s Bistro, in fact, is now located at the Skyrise 1 Building. It’s the first restaurant to offer Mediterranean-fusion cuisine at an affordable price in Cebu. Your P100 can buy you a meal. Channel shared her experience at Michel’s Bistro on her blog just recently.
If you are into a fast casual Mexican restaurant, Red Lizard has now opened its doors in Cebu IT Park. From The Abaca Group, this is actually their most affordable brand ever! But they still made sure Red Lizard will serve the same quality good food experience to their customers. Rea of Blissful Snapshots took some appetizing photos not advisable if you’re hungry at the moment. (Unless, of course, if you’re planning to visit Red Lizard right now.)
Want to try an all-you-can herb pork steak at P299? Along with their wide array of good dishes, Slate District is now open in Parkmall Cebu to cater to Cebuanos and foreigners who are into good food at an affordable price. Yes, the most recent restaurant in Cebu that opened to the public is The Pyramid. Cebu Finest explains that the “Louvre-inspired form of the restaurant reflects a simple white-on-black masterpiece.” If you’re a fan of pizzas, salads, wine, and cheese bars, this place is for you! Tim Ho Wan
SM Seaside City Cebu has been the talk of the town recently, and one of the things that fueled this is the grand opening of Tim Ho Wan last March. According to Kalami Cebu, “Cebuanos can now enjoy the famous Baked Bun with BBQ Pork that helped Tim Ho Wan (Mongkok, Hong Kong) earn the coveted star in the 2010 HK and Macau Michelin Guide.” Interested to dine here? Wheel’s Bar and Grill
If you’re into cozy restos that’s within the city but feels like you’re already living far away from the street traffic, Wheel’s Bar and Grill located a few minutes away from Cebu Capitol Hall is the place to be. They offer good food and an Instagrammable ambiance because of the giant wheel wall design. More of this at Pergazine.
Yes, Cebu Marriott isn’t a new place. It’s a luxury business hotel located beside Ayala Center Cebu. This is often overlooked because of the wide array of choices that the mall offers to its customers. However, just recently, they have offered a limited-time buffet discounts up to almost 50% to everyone.
